Last Wednesday was my birthday, and I had a lovely day. Frankie woke me up early, but went back to sleep after some quick nursing. Tony got up early to make me breakfast, and I got the best birthday gift ever: I laid in bed, reading. Ah, it’s been so long. (I’m currently reading Eat Pray Love and it’s pretty good so far).
Tony then came in to give me breakfast in bed…with way too much food. Way too much delicious food.
Frankie slept through breakfast, cozy in his co-sleeper…
Then, Tony gave me my presents…
Carnations – my favorite. Cheap and long-lasting. And inside the bag was a bunch of candy, a toy cat that looks like our cat Tommy, a card, and jewelry (earrings, a ring, and a necklace). Yes, he went overboard, and spent way too much money on me, but I do like purty shiny things. And I really like purty shiny things that my hubby buys me.
When Frankie woke up, even he couldn’t believe how nice my presents were.
Tony and I then spent the morning watching a movie in bed with the baby, and then went to lunch with my parents and my grandpa at Benihanas. Of course, my father insisted on me having happy birthday sung to me, in both English and Japanese, mind you, but I did have a delicious meal and some even more delicious sushi (nothing raw, just in case Frankie wouldn’t get anything nasty in his breastmilk).
A fun time was had by all.
Later on, my parents watched Frankie while Tony and I went out and spent my hard-earned birthday money. I got more clothes that fit my new body, some pillows and decor for the living room, and some nursing tank tops. And Frankie took a bottle from my mom, which, let me tell you, is a birthday gift in disguise.
The next day, Tony’s family came over, and we enjoyed more cake, more presents, and more fun with family.
And this delicious mint ice cream cake:
Hmm, it seems like most of my birthday revolved around food. I wouldn’t have it any other way. All in all, a good birthday. Now if I can only skip next year’s, when I turn the big 3-0…
