Or, I should say, people who live in procreating houses shouldn’t have glass anything.
Now, I know that glass is WAY more environmentally friendly than plastic, and although I haven’t banned plastic from our household, and Frankie has his fair share of mainstream plastic toys, I am well aware of the dangerous nature of glass mixing with increasingly grab-by babies.
That’s why I went around and gathered up all of our glass vases, candleholders, etc., from around the house and created a little glass/ceramic display on the top of the tall bookcase in our living room. In other words, away from tiny little hands.
I really hate the thought of having to put away all of my nice pieces because of having a baby. Yes, I know every parent has to make sacrifices and change their lifestyle, blah blah blah, but I would still like to have somewhat of an adult house. Who says that just because you have a baby that you have to sign over your life to Fisher Price?
Once I put all of the pieces together, I realized that I have a lot of white ceramic pieces, with a few splashes of green and blue. Much like the rest of our house, which is very neutral, but with little touches of natural colors throughout.
I even pulled some serving pieces from our kitchen to give more oomph to the display.
So, what do you think? Do you like my baby-friendly glass display? Am I foolish to think that Frankie won’t break things up high? Or am I just placing a whole of dust collectors in one area?
